SRP Welcomes Jens Soth as Executive Director and Pays Tribute to Dr. Wyn Ellis’ 13 Years of Leadership
The Sustainable Rice Platform (SRP) is pleased to welcome Jens Soth as its new Executive Director. An accomplished agricultural scientist and environmental engineer, Jens brings over two decades of leadership in advancing sustainability and resilience across global agriculture systems.

With deep field experience in the tropics and subtropics, Jens has long been at the forefront of organic and climate-smart farming innovations. At HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation, he led pioneering programs to scale sustainable agriculture and improve rural livelihoods. His expertise spans the entire agricultural value chain—from farmer engagement and value creation to life-cycle assessments and policy advocacy.
Jens has played an influential role in shaping sustainability frameworks across multiple sectors, including textiles and food. He has served as a delegated expert to the European Environmental Bureau under the EU Eco-Labelling scheme, contributed to the IPCC directives, and currently supports international standard-setting through the SEEP Panel of the International Cotton Advisory Committee and the European Sustainable Cocoa Standard (CEN 415).
As he takes on the role at SRP, Jens brings not only technical depth and systems thinking, but also a strong commitment to collaboration and equity. His vision aligns closely with SRP’s mission to transform the global rice sector into a model of climate resilience, environmental stewardship, and inclusive development.
This leadership transition also offers an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the remarkable contributions of Dr. Wyn Ellis, who has worked with SRP for over 13 years. Under his leadership, SRP has grown into a globally respected multi-stakeholder alliance, advancing sustainable rice practices and creating lasting impact across the sector. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Wyn for his dedication and leadership.

Wyn will continue to support SRP in an advisory capacity during the transition period, through the end of August 2025.
