About SRP National Chapters
What is an SRP National Chapter?
An SRP National Chapter is a country-level coalition formed of national-level rice industry stakeholders. SRP National Chapters represent SRP principles and drive the adoption of climate-smart, sustainable rice farming practices in a country.
What does an SRP National Chapter do?
Recognition as the designated official representative of SRP at national level
Localize SRP tools to implement them in the host country. This includes drafting the National Interpretation Guidelines to apply the SRP Standard at the country level.
Scale capacity and awareness of local stakeholders and rice industry actors on SRP and the SRP Standard. This includes the development of country-tailored training curricula on SRP tools.
Supports implementation and monitoring of SRP activities in the local country.
Reports national-level impacts of Registered SRP Projects against SRP Performance Indicators or other important metrics.
Maintains communication with the SRP Secretariat to keep both sides updated.

How to set up an SRP National Chapter
Any interested organization must seek approval from the SRP Secretariat to establish an in-country National Working Group before you can set up an SRP National Chapter.
The initiating organization convenes a National Working Group.
The National Working Group selects an eligible organization to host the National Chapter.
The host organization appoints or hires a National Coordinator to facilitate organizational development.

List of SRP National Chapters
Co-chaired by General Directorate of Agriculture (GDA) and Cambodia Rice Federation (CRF), the SRP National Chapter in Cambodia has been developed through collaborative efforts of key partners (GDA, CRF, Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), Swisscontact, and CIRAD).
- Memorandum of Agreement signed in June 2021 among five organizations: GDA, CRF, WCS, Swisscontact, and CIRAD to support establishment of SRP National Chapter in Cambodia.
- Consultation and validation workshops organized in Aug and Dec 2022, respectively to develop the 5-year strategic roadmap for SRP National Chapter Cambodia.
- Memorandum of Understanding signed between SRP, GDA, and CRF on rights and responsibilities of the individual parties and of the SRP National Chapter Cambodia
The intention to set up the SRP National Chapter in Nigeria was initiated in July 2021 by Market-Oriented Value Chains for Jobs and Growth in ECOWAS Region (MOVE) / Competitive African Rice Initiative (CARI) in Nigeria.
Status: Protocol Step 2
On behalf of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD), MOVE / CARI Project submitted the request to lead the establishment of SRP National Chapter in Nigeria.
The intention to establish the SRP National Chapter in Pakistan was initiated in June 2022 by Pakistan Basmati Heritage Foundation (PBHF).

- Public webinar about Pakistan’s role in meeting global demand for sustainable rice
- Inaugural meeting for setting up the SRP National Chapter in Pakistan
Initiated since 2019 by leading of GIZ Thailand, the SRP National Chapter Thailand is a multi-stakeholder forum with over 10 public, private, and international organizations sharing a view to scale awareness about sustainable rice cultivation and adoption of SRP Standard to the local stakeholders.
