International Sustainable Rice Forum 2025
November 17, 2025
- Duration: 2 days
- Venue: Jakarta, Indonesia
The International Sustainable Rice Forum (ISRF) 2025 will take place on 17-18 November in Jakarta, Indonesia. Rice production accounts for up to 10% of global agricultural emissions, with a climate footprint comparable to the aviation industry. Transforming rice cultivation is essential to addressing climate change and building resilient food systems.
This two-day forum will bring together governments, businesses, farmers, researchers, and NGOs from around the world to share experiences, discuss policies, and explore innovations in sustainable, low-carbon rice production. The event highlights successful field initiatives and strategies that support smallholder farmers, market opportunities, and groundbreaking research driving change in the sector.
Organized by Preferred by Nature in collaboration with the Sustainable Rice Platform (SRP), Rikolto, and the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), the forum is part of the Low Carbon Rice project funded by the EU SWITCH-Asia Official Grants Programme. Indonesian partners Koalisi Rakyat untuk Kedaulatan Pangan (KRKP) and the Indonesia Rice Millers and Traders Association (PERPADI) also play key roles in advancing sustainability and competitiveness in the rice sector.
This global gathering aims to accelerate the transition to climate-smart rice production practices worldwide.
