The Sustainable Rice Platform (SRP) is pleased to invite stakeholders and the public to participate in the 2nd Public Consultation on the draft of SRP Standard for Sustainable Rice Cultivation v3.0.

This updated draft is the result of:

  • Valuable feedback from the 1st Public Consultation (PC)
  • Stakeholder consultations with producers, industry experts, and civil society
  • Results from field testing in Indonesia
  • Recommendations from social experts to strengthen social responsibility and labor protections

Your voice is vital in ensuring that the updated Standard is practical, inclusive, and aligned with both global and local sustainability goals.

  • Increased requirements: Expanded from 41 to 44 requirements, including:
    • Requirement 4: Innovative Climate Change Mitigation Technology – rewards for Producers implementing innovations to mitigate climate change
    • Requirement 29: Safe Use of Mechanization
    • Requirement 41: Working Conditions
  • New mandatory foundations as pre-requisite requirements:
    • Risk Assessment
    • Grievance Mechanism
    • Remediation
  • Differentiated Compliance Paths: Tailored pathways for smallholders and large producers to support inclusive adoption.
  • Progress Recognition for Aspiring Producers: Introduction of “Aspiring Producers” who are on the path toward full sustainability compliance. Qualifying producers will receive a Progress Recognition Statement in the first two years.
  • Strengthened Social and Environmental Safeguards: Enhanced focus on biodiversity protection, climate action, and labor conditions.
  • Annexes Updates: Introduction of new annexes:
    • Annex C: Pesticide risk assessment checklist
    • Annex D: Guidance on climate change innovation requirements
