ACFS and SRP to Sign MoU: A Milestone for Sustainable Thai Rice

Join us on 2 September in Bangkok as we shape the future of rice together

Thailand’s rice is world-renowned for its fragrance, quality, and heritage. Yet today, it faces urgent challenges: climate change, rising production costs, and the need to stay competitive in global markets. Turning these challenges into opportunities requires collective action — and that is exactly what will happen this September.

On 2 September 2025, the National Bureau of Agricultural Commodity and Food Standards (ACFS) and the Sustainable Rice Platform (SRP) will officially sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Sustainable Rice Collaboration in Bangkok.

This MoU represents more than an agreement. It is a commitment to:

  • Align Thailand’s Sustainable Rice Standard (ACFS 4408-2022) with the globally recognized SRP Standard.
  • Strengthen farmer resilience through joint training programs and climate-smart practices.
  • Enhance transparency by sharing data and certification systems.
  • Promote “Sustainable Thai Rice” as a trusted global brand for consumers, businesses, and governments alike.

Through this partnership with Thailand, one of the world’s leading rice exporters, SRP reaffirms its mission: to make rice more sustainable from farm to fork. Together, ACFS and SRP will support farmers with practices that protect the environment, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and improve livelihoods — while creating new market opportunities and building consumer trust.

“Sustainable Thai Rice has the potential to become not only a symbol of quality, but also a global solution for food security and climate action,” said Jens Soth, Executive Director of SRP.

This MoU is a proud milestone in SRP’s journey to transform the global rice sector. It reflects SRP’s core values — collaboration, innovation, and accountability — by demonstrating how sustainability, competitiveness, and resilience can go hand in hand.

Stay tuned as we celebrate this signing ceremony on 2 September in Bangkok. Together, we are cultivating resilience, advancing sustainability, and shaping a better future for rice — for people and the planet.
