Announcing the New SRP Technical Committee
Sustainable Rice Platform (SRP) is pleased to announce the appointment of a new Technical Committee (TC), effective 1 October 2025. This marks an exciting new chapter for SRP’s technical governance, with the committee now structured around four specialized domains: 1) Cultivation; 2) Carbon; 3) Social; 4) Traceability
The SRP Technical Committee plays a vital role in shaping the development, revision, and implementation of SRP’s core instruments, including the Standard, Assurance Scheme, Performance Indicators, and supporting tools. With this expanded structure, SRP is better positioned to address the growing complexity and ambition of sustainable rice systems worldwide.

Vikram Mehla is an agronomist with over a decade of expertise in advancing sustainable and regenerative rice cultivation with LT Foods. Since 2016, he has worked closely with farmers in India to implement the comprehensive set of SRP standards, promoting best practices across all stages of cultivation. He leads field extension programs and pesticide residue compliance initiatives aligned with export market requirements. Vikram successfully implemented the world’s first SRP low carbon verified rice pilot project and is currently leading the Rice Carbon Farming Project, applying AWD to reduce methane emissions, conserve water, generate carbon credits, and enhance farmer livelihoods.

Zafar Iqbal – Social Domain
Zafar Iqbal is a development practitioner with a master’s in Anthropology and extensive experience working with national and international organizations. He pioneered the implementation of the Sustainable Rice Platform (SRP) in Pakistan in collaboration with Mars Food and Rice Partners Ltd/NetZeroAg Ltd.
Trained by UTZ, Mars Food, AIZ, and GLOBALG.A.P., Zafar has conducted hundreds of training sessions for smallholder rice farmers on sustainable and climate-smart practices, water management, labor rights, and social compliance aligned with SRP standards. He co-developed and submitted methane reduction projects in Pakistan and Cambodia, which received verification from Gold Standard.
Zafar has also implemented donor-funded projects with partners like SDC, Helvetas, Swiss Solidarity, RVO, and CARE Netherlands. Currently, he leads a large-scale contract farming program for Mars Food’s Ben’s Original® brand and a carbon credit initiative under RPL/NZA in Pakistan and Cambodia
Binh Le Qui Hoa – Traceability Domain (Control Union)
Binh Le Qui Hoa is a Certification Agri Manager at Control Union Vietnam, with over 14 years of experience in sustainable agriculture and certification. He manages the global implementation of the SRP Standard for Control Union, ensuring quality, auditor competence, and compliance. He has expertise in auditor training, performance assessment, and harmonization of certification processes. With a background in R&D and organic production, he is deeply committed to advancing sustainability and strengthening international certification systems

🤝 A Committee Built on Collaboration
This year’s selection process emphasized not only technical expertise, but also the importance of diversity, collaboration, and shared commitment. The Technical Committee now reflects a broader range of institutions and perspectives ensuring balanced representation and reducing the risk of organizational bias. Members were chosen for their ability to work constructively across domains and to prioritize SRP’s collective goals above individual affiliations.
We look forward to a productive term ahead and to the continued evolution of SRP’s technical leadership.
Stay tuned for updates on upcoming TC activities and working group engagements.
