Announcement: SRP Chain of Custody Policy and Standard – Version 2.5

The Sustainable Rice Platform (SRP) is excited to announce the release of the SRP Chain of Custody (CoC) Policy and Standard version 2.5.

The SRP Chain of Custody Policy and Standard is designed to guarantee traceability throughout the supply chain. It specifies requirements for all applicant organizations regarding sourcing, processing, labeling claims, and the on-pack use of the SRP-Verified label. This ensures that SRP-Verified rice maintains its integrity and supports transparency from farm to final consumer.

Key Updates in Version 2.5:

• Terminology and Platform Updates: Following the launch of the SRP Assurance Platform earlier this year, the term “SRP database” has been updated to “SRP Audit Management Platform.” Additionally, the introduction of SRP RiceTrace provides advanced traceability capabilities for rice supply chains.
• Purchasing and Verification: New rules for purchasing SRP-verified rice, guidelines for requesting a sell-off period, and instructions for Transaction Certificates.
• Audit and Scope Change: Detailed procedures for scope change audits, Conformity Assessment Body (CAB) responsibilities, and document management.
• Social and Compliance: Integration of social elements, compliance with laws and the implementation of grievance systems.
• Additional Clarifications: Enhanced clarity on the Mass Balance model.

Effective Date:

The standard requirements under version 2.5 will take effect in July 2025. Until then, verified units may use either version 2.4 or version 2.5 to meet standard requirements. However, the updates on terminology and platforms, including the renaming of “SRP database” to “SRP Audit Platform” and the implementation of the SRP RiceTrace platform, as well as the clarifications to the Mass Balance model, are effective immediately.
