From Strategy to Sustainability: Welcoming Soumita Bhattacharya to SRP’s Global Team

Soumita’s professional journey reflects a purposeful transition from the private sector to sustainability, where her passion for building climate-resilient and inclusive systems now guides her work. At SRP, she will lead global capacity development efforts aimed at empowering smallholder farmers, strengthening institutional capacity, and supporting climate-smart agriculture practices around the world.

Before joining SRP, Soumita held senior roles at AXA Group in Indonesia, where she led large-scale transformation initiatives. Her move into sustainable development was driven by a personal mission to create systemic change—supported by a Master’s degree in Sustainability from Harvard University, where she focused on inclusive policy and development solutions for smallholder communities.

Beyond her professional expertise, Soumita brings warmth, balance, and curiosity to her work. She is a devoted coffee lover and dog parent to Aldo, her energetic young companion who adds joy to her mornings and keeps her grounded.

Soumita’s arrival marks an exciting new chapter for SRP. Her leadership, strategic insight, and passion for inclusive development will be instrumental as we expand our reach and strengthen the global rice sector through knowledge-sharing, partnerships, and practical tools.
