Public Consultation Open: Revision of SRP Performance Indicators for Sustainable Rice Cultivation

The Sustainable Rice Platform (SRP) invites stakeholders to participate in a 60-day public consultation on the proposed revision of the SRP Performance Indicators for Sustainable Rice Cultivation.

The SRP Performance Indicators support the measurement of sustainability outcomes associated with rice cultivation and complement the SRP Standard by providing a framework for monitoring environmental, economic and social performance. 

Why is SRP conducting this revision?

These two indicators have been selected in response to emerging priorities across the rice sector. The revision to the Profitability indicator aims to strengthen the assessment of farm economic performance while providing additional context that may support broader livelihood and living income-related analyses. The revision to the GHG Emissions indicator reflects increasing demand for robust climate information and incorporates recent developments in greenhouse gas quantification, including alignment with the SRP Low Carbon Assurance Module (L-CAM). No changes are proposed to the remaining Performance Indicators as part of this consultation.

We welcome your feedback 

SRP encourages all interested stakeholders—including farmers, producer organizations, researchers, companies, NGOs, government agencies, certification bodies and sustainability practitioners—to review the draft and provide comments. 

For ease of review: 

• All proposed revisions are shown in blue text within the document.  
• Comments should be submitted using the official consultation feedback form, which allows reviewers to identify the specific section or clause they are commenting on and provide supporting justification where appropriate.  

Using the feedback form will help ensure that all comments can be reviewed and considered systematically by the SRP Technical Committee.
