1. Background

The Sustainable Rice Platform (SRP) is seeking experienced consultants to provide technical expertise and support the implementation of its GEF-funded regional project, Public-Private Blended Finance for Climate-Resilient Rice Landscapes.

The project aims to catalyse public and private investment in climate-resilient rice production systems, sustainable rice value chains and improved farmer livelihoods. Through collaboration with public institutions, private-sector partners and other relevant stakeholders, the initiative seeks to identify practical solutions and investment opportunities that can strengthen the resilience and sustainability of rice landscapes in the region.

To support this work, SRP is looking to engage a Technical Specialist – Rice Value Chain with relevant technical knowledge and practical experience in one or more areas related to rice production, value chain development, agricultural investment and climate adaptation.

  • Agricultural Investment and Blended Finance: Expertise in identifying investment opportunities, developing investment concepts and exploring financing approaches to mobilise public and private investment in climate-resilient agriculture and rice value chains.
  • Farmer and Cooperative Capacity Development: Experience in strengthening the technical, organisational and business capacities of farmer organisations, cooperatives and other value chain actors.

Candidates are not expected to have expertise in all the areas listed above. SRP is particularly interested in professionals whose qualifications and demonstrated experience align with one or more of the technical areas relevant to the assignment.

Practical experience working with rice farmers, farmer organisations, cooperatives, rice millers, agribusinesses, financial institutions, government agencies or other rice value chain stakeholders will be considered an advantage.
