Rice is more than a crop. It is the foundation of food security for billions of people, a source of income for hundreds of millions of smallholder farmers, and one of agriculture’s most significant contributors to greenhouse gas emissions and water use. How the world grows rice matters — deeply.

For over a decade, the Sustainable Rice Platform has been working to change how that story unfolds. By bringing together over 100 member organizations — food companies, governments, development agencies, research institutions, and civil society — SRP has built a global movement that makes sustainable rice production practical, measurable, and scalable. Through the adoption of the SRP Practices and Standard, farmers around the world are improving their livelihoods, reducing their environmental footprint, and gaining access to markets that reward responsible practice.

The work is real. The momentum is real. And the opportunity ahead is significant.

A Strong Platform, Ready for What’s Next

Organizations that pursue lasting change are built on continuity as much as ambition. Since December 2025, Peter McAllister has served as SRP’s Interim Executive Director — bringing steady, committed leadership that has kept SRP moving forward with confidence. Under his stewardship, the platform has maintained its operational strength, upheld its engagement with members and partners worldwide, and reinforced the trust that defines SRP’s reputation. We are grateful for everything Peter has brought to this role.

As SRP looks ahead, it does so from a position of strength.

The Role

SRP is now seeking a permanent Executive Director to lead the platform into its next phase of growth and impact.

This is a rare opportunity — to sit at the intersection of sustainability, agriculture, food systems, and global development, and to lead a platform with the partnerships, standards, and credibility to drive change at scale. The Executive Director will shape SRP’s strategic direction, grow its membership and financial base, champion its mission on the global stage, and ensure that the platform continues to deliver for the farmers, ecosystems, and supply chains it serves.

We are looking for a leader with the vision to see where SRP can go, the relationships to get it there, and the drive to make it happen.
