SRP and ACFS Convene Strategic Meeting to Advance Implementation of MoU on Sustainable Rice Development

Bangkok, Thailand – 24 April 2026

The Sustainable Rice Platform (SRP) and the Office of Agricultural Commodity and Food Standards (ACFS) conducted a strategic meeting to review progress and strengthen mutual understanding on the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the two organizations. The discussion aimed to enhance coordination, align operational priorities, and accelerate collaborative efforts to promote sustainable rice production and standards in Thailand.

The meeting reaffirmed the strong partnership established following the signing of the MoU on 2 September 2025, reflecting a shared commitment to advancing sustainable agriculture, improving the competitiveness of Thailand’s rice sector, and supporting national and international standards for sustainable rice production. Both parties recognized the increasing importance of sustainability in responding to evolving global market demands, climate challenges, and supply chain expectations.

Under the MoU framework, SRP and ACFS are working together to align Thailand’s national sustainable rice standard with internationally recognized sustainability benchmarks, strengthen capacity-building initiatives for farmers and stakeholders, and promote Thai Sustainable Rice in global markets. These collaborative efforts aim to enhance transparency, improve environmental performance, and reinforce Thailand’s leadership in sustainable rice production and responsible trade.

The ACFS Team reviewed the core elements of the MoU and discussed practical pathways to drive collaboration forward, including related operational considerations.

Looking ahead, SRP and ACFS expressed their continued commitment to translating the MoU into concrete actions that deliver tangible benefits for farmers, the rice industry, and the broader agricultural sector. The meeting marked an important step forward in strengthening collaboration and supporting Thailand’s position as a regional and global leader in sustainable rice production and standards.
